Registration in Cub Scouts is a two-step process: The scout needs to be registered first with Scouting America. Then, the scout needs to be registered with the Pack. Please read below about the process and costs associated with each step.
Step 1 is to register with Scouting America, which is the organization that includes Cub Scouts, BSA Scouts, Venture Crews, and more. Visit beascout.org to start a new registration, or visit my.scouting.org if you have already been registered and need to renew.
Step 2 is registering with Pack 62. Please visit our page on CheddarUp to complete our annual registration by Nov 1, 2026 for the 2026-27 season.
The dues paid to Scouting America go to the National and the Mayflower Council offices. The paid professionals at those levels are responsible for maintaining the Scouting America program, providing many material resources for unit operation, providing insurance for unit operation, and maintaining and staffing the beautiful sites we get to enjoy such as Nobscot Reservation here in Sudbury. At the time of writing, national plus council dues together are around $170 per scout.
Annual pack dues help our volunteer leaders provide an exciting and engaging program for our scouts going toward the purchase of earned awards for the scouts, pack T-shirts, Pinewood Derby, Rocket launch, outing fees and food purchase, den and pack event supplies, and much more. Many packs choose to offset their dues by having scouts and their families fundraise. For years, we have elected not to fundraise, but to pay full dues one time per year. Our pack dues this year are the same as last year, $180 per scout with discounted rates for siblings. Some financial assistance is available for those with need.
