2019 SUDBURY 4TH OF JULY PARADE CONFIRMATION
Dear Parade Participant,
It is hard to believe that July 4th is just around the corner. We are sending this packet to all the confirmed parade participants for 2019. If your plans have changed and you cannot be a part of this wonderful tradition please let us know as soon as possible at parade@sudbury.org. The parade's theme this year is “Dance and Sing, May Freedom Ring”
DIVISION LINEUP. Enclosed you will find a map. You have been placed in DIVISION 3 . Please stay close to the marchers ahead of you during the parade - large gaps extend the duration of the parade unnecessarily. If you have any questions please give me a call at 978-443-9132. The parade starts at 1:00 PM on the 4th of July at 490 Boston Post Road, Chiswick Park; Roads along the parade route will close at approximately 12:30 PM. All parade participants should be in position by 12:00 PM.
THROWING CANDY. For the safety of all parade attendees and participants, no candy is to be thrown from a moving vehicle. Candy may be thrown from the ground by walkers only. The parade committee has implemented this rule because some children are running into the street to gather up candy and are getting much too close to moving vehicles. Thank you for your cooperation and be safe.
SHUTTLE BUS. We will provide a shuttle bus service from approximately 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM for participants between the start and end points of the parade. Please be sure that members of your group are aware of the shuttle service. We suggest you park in the bus parking lot behind town hall and take the shuttle to the starting area at Chiswick Park. Please refer to the map for details.
WATER STATIONS. There will be bottled water available for parade participants in Chiswick Park, as well as in front of Our Lady of Fatima Church on Concord Road.
FLOAT JUDGING. If you are entering a float to be judged, you should be in place at Chiswick Park by noon; judging will begin at 12:00 PM. This year there are four categories of floats:
“Community”, “Family & Friends”, “Neighborhood” and “Commercial”.
Each category will receive a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbon. Honorable mention ribbons will be awarded at the judge’s discretion. Each float gets a score of 1 (low) to 3 (high) in each of the following three areas: (a) originality and creativity, (b) the incorporation and display of the parade theme, and (c) quality of the overall float and amount of effort expended. Ribbons will be awarded at the beginning of the parade.
Thank you for your effort in helping to make the parade a success again this year. See you on the 4th!
Sincerely,
Mike Hamill, Chairman
