Cub Scouting and Pack 62 Sudbury general information:
Cub Scouting and Pack 62 Sudbury general information:
- Once a month, all scouts meet together as a Pack. The Pack meetings will be held monthly on Mondays at 6:30pm at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church. Each Pack meeting is led by the Cubmaster and includes themed activities for cubs and their parents.
- The Pack is made up of smaller groups called dens. Each den corresponds with a grade level (K-5), so cubs interact with cubs of similar age. Den meetings will be monthly as well, and den leaders work with den families to find a schedule that works well for the group. Den leaders are trained parent volunteers who organize den activities. Den meetings are often led by den leaders, though commonly each family might lead one meeting a year.
- Pack activities include Pinewood Derby, Rocket Launch, Blue and Gold Banquet, and camping (typically one camping trip in fall and one in spring). Also the pack does museum visits and overnights (Ecotarium in Worcester this past year), hikes, community service projects, etc.
- Den activities focus on themes such as the outdoors, sports/games, nutrition, community, family, service, character, etc. Scouts work in their dens to complete their rank requirements, though some requirements are done at home with a parent/guardian's help.
- All cubs complete their rank's required adventures throughout the year with their den. Belt loops for these adventures are awarded periodically throughout the year with the rank badge being awarded toward the end of the year once all required adventures have been completed.
- Resources for finding uniforms and books include the New England Scout Store in Southborough, the Maynard Outdoor Store (limited selection), and the Scout Shop online.
- National and Council dues are paid annually on the anniversary of the date you enroll. See registration page for more info on current pricing.
- Pack dues will be collected by the pack itself once a year in the fall. See registration page for more info on current pricing and due date.
- Please check the pack website, sudburypack62.org, for updates.
